GEORGINA BARNEY: FARMING FICTION

Drawing on conversations with farmers across the Nottinghamshire countryside, artist and writer Georgina Barney presents 10 new works. Each work engages a farmer with the subject of Seamus Heaney's 'Glanmore Sonnets'.

'Farming Fiction' has been developed with curator Alice Carey, and is supported by the National Farmers' Union.  Barney's interest combines metaphors of art-making with practices of agriculture. At the Sideshow Alley Cafe at One Thoresby Street, the final installment of this project will launch a publication in the company of artists, farmers and Caroline Spelman, MP for Meriden and Secretary of State for the Envrionment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Sideshow 2010

In October 2010, Sideshow will take place for the second time round supporting the prestigious British Art Show 7, “In The Days Of The Comet” curated by Lisa Le Feuvre & Tom Morton, for its nationwide launch at Nottingham Contemporary, The New Art Exchange and The Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery.
Sideshow complements Nottingham’s growing artist-led scene and do-it-yourself attitude towards contemporary art and will be made up of both, individual artists projects and selected commissions of new works.
